Connector backshells are an accessory that is fitted to the rear of a circular connector to reduce strain at the interface between the cable wires and the connector contacts. A backshell is also used to terminate the cable shield. Backshells must be compatible with the connectors Range, Plating, Size and Type. There are also various sized openings or 'Entry Sizes' to accept the diameter of the wire or cable. Backshells may include a Screen Trap for the cable shield.
Selecting the correct connector backshell for your application is critical to achieving the required level of performance from your end-to-end interconnect solution.
